Nova Gina
Sassy Classy and a little bit brassy.... is this gay enough for you ?
HIEEEEEEEEEEE
Nova here .... sorry Dan can't come to the door right now he's too busy hiding due to the crippling anxiety he has which society has forced upon him . I mean it can be stressful !
No Debbie, Dan doesn't want to come shopping with you!
No Karen, Dan doesn't want to be your gay bff!
No grandad, Dan won't become a paedo just because he is gay!
As you can see it can get tiring
So that's why i'm here ...... at least I get to choose the mask I wear instead of having a mask and narrative forced upon me!!!
So, who is Nova (aka Nova Gina)? Well to answer that lets get to the inspo's shall we.

“Under this mask, another mask. I will never finish removing all these faces.”
This piece of art creates an effect that suggests we can never be truly ourselves. We either choose to hide under a false facade or get pushed to become someone we are not, just to be accepted.
Media and social constructs form your narrative to someone else and results in them being judged accordingly , creating a stereotypical personality based on your sexual orientation.
"We bought this idea that our identity was enough. We didn't have to do anything else" - Walt Cassidy, Another Man, Sept 9th 2019.
The Club Kids embodied the ethos of the'90s. Embracing the spirit of deconstruction in their creative process.
This entailed breaking things apart and reconstructing them, but ensuring all the "scars" were on show.

Creating the "lewk". The process of creating the look was difficult. I struggled to obtain drag make-up and had to resort to cheap drug store make-up. In-appropriate make-up led to inadequate coverage, especially over my eyebrows. I also experienced issues with contouring and hi-lighting.

Figure 3.
Figure 1, below, shows how I tried to create a ruffled skirt using an old bed sheet. However, due to the fabric choice the stitching kept ripping and the structure was not holding. So, I decided to create a suit using some old curtain material. I used one of my mom's old jackets as a pattern. Buttons and zips were added to finish the costume. Unfortunately, I forgot to allow for the fact that my mom is slightly bigger than me and I cut the pattern too large. Securing the excess material with pegs, I then proceeded to customise the fit of the outfit.

Finalising the "lewk".
To finalise the look there were a few additional items required. I had to decide on which wigs would suit the look I had created. I decided on a long brown wig and a shorter blonde wig. I chose a pair of ladies, very high heeled boots, to complete my desired look.
